Chung Yuan Christian University Bags Two Gold and Two Silver Medals at Pittsburgh Invention Show 2015

At the 2015’s 30th Invention and New Product Exposition (INPEX) held in Pittsburgh in the US, Chung Yuan Christian University’s representatives turned in a fantastic performance with their award-winning patents. The Chung Yuan Christian University teams bagged two gold and two silver medals at the event.

INPEX in Pittsburgh is one of the three major invention expositions in the world. At 2015’s event, about 800 entries from 18 countries were submitted. Among all the inventions, 85 were from Taiwan. The two gold-medal-winning inventions from Chung Yuan Christian University were created respectively by Prof. Shih-Lun Chen of the Department of Electronic Engineering and by a joint collaboration of professors of the Department of Chemical Engineering, which includes Prof. Wei-Ren Liu, Prof. Juin-Yih Lai, Prof. Wei-Song Hung and Prof. Kueir-Rarn Lee. Meanwhile, Prof. Shia-Chung Chen of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Prof. Cheanyeh Cheng of the Department of Chemistry were each awarded a silver medal for their patents.

The outstanding performance of the Chung Yuan Christian University’s representatives shows that the university not only generates great momentum in research development, but also endeavors to put the great asset to use. The Executive Operation Center for Industry-Academia Cooperation at Chung Yuan Christian University will work on integrating the resources from academia and industry to facilitate cooperation in commercializing the inventions, which may further forge enterprise transformation for local corporations.
