Undergraduate

  1. Entry Qualification
All applicants must satisfy the University admission and registration regulations and requirements to enter this Department.
The Department offers a full-time 4-year course leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering. All under-graduate majors in the Department are required to meet a set requirement of 128 credits, which consists of required courses plus additional department electives selected from a wide variety of specialized courses. The required departmental electives are taken primarily in the junior and senior years, and they permit students to develop depth in special areas of their choice.
  2. Laboratory Facilities
In addition to formal classroom lectures and studies, the department places strong emphasis on laboratory and computer experience. To support this experience, the department and the school maintain an extensive complement of relevant laboratory and computer facilities, including the following. Full descriptions of each facility are available from the department.
    (1) Control Systems Laboratory.
    (2) Electrical Circuit Laboratory.
    (3) Electric Machinery Laboratory.
    (4) Computer Laboratory.
    (5) Power Transmission & Distribution Laboratory.
    (6) Communications Laboratory.
  3. Student Activities
All undergraduates are encouraged to participate in a wide variety of weekly seminars on specialized classroom and laboratory subjects in addition to visiting power plants and industrial areas. The Electrical Engineering Association (EEA) is the representative body for undergraduates. Its main academic activity is the preparation of a departmental magazine. Another aim is to promote undergraduate involvement in both departmental and university life, mainly from a social aspect such as sports, films, lectures, outside visits, etc.
Although students come to this department chiefly for its strong academic program, the vivid life outside the classroom is also an essential part of preparation for social living; thus all students are urged to take advantage of the opportunities for personal growth.
