The College of Business at Chung Yuan Christian University will be dedicated to constructing an academic environment with excellent teaching, innovative research, and a value of service, as well as promoting the philosophy of holistic education in order to become a premier business school.


The College of Business at Chung Yuan Christian University is committed to providing a holistic education, nurturing its students to become management professionals with an appreciation for humanity, and innovation capability, and to providing regionally specialized management knowledge that serve academia and society.

Brief history and organization

The College of Business was established in 1980 in response to the government’s need for economic development. In 1967, the Industrial Management Department was created, but in 1974 changed its name to the Department of Business Administration. The Department of International Trade was set-up in 1976 .And in 1980, the Department of Accounting was launched which leaded to the establishment of the College of Business. The Chung Yuan Christian College of Science and Engineering had been expanded to the Chung Yuan Christian University for the addition of the College of Business. In 1987, the university founded the Department of Information Management , and formed the Department of Finance in 2005.That will train students in becoming future financial professionals. At this point of time, the university had mapped out a comprehensive structure of a quality business education.

Following the government’s authorization to establish the College of Business in 1980, the university, continued to devote in promoting the research education. Thus, in 1983 it created the Graduate School of Business Administration master program; in 1997 it founded the Graduate School of Accounting master program, in 1998 it founded the Graduate School of Information Management master program; in 1999 it founded the Graduate School of International Trade master program. In 2001 it introduced the Graduate School of Business Management doctoral program, where the five departments jointly supported the faculty and resources; in 2005 the college debuted the Graduate School of Business Administration doctoral program, and in 2009 the Graduate School of Business Management doctoral program was renamed as Ph.D program in Business as sanctioned by the Ministry of Education.

To uphold the college’s “holistic education and lifetime learning” philosophy, the college had in 1999 launched the Graduate School of Business Administration and Accounting in-service master programs; in 2000 it founded the Graduate School of Information Management in-service master program, and in 2002 it unveiled the Graduate School of International Trade in-service master program, which provides business executives a retraining opportunity, and a close-knit exchange and cooperation between the industry and the academic sector.

Key Features

Promoting cross-strait and international academic exchanges; demanding all students to enroll in the three-year English course; developing the promotion of cross-school and cross-department Mainland business administration courses; developing overseas exchange projects for joint participation and growth of the faculty and student body (which includes the dual U.S. B.A./ two master project, through which to secure a Chung Yuan B.A. degree and a partner school’s master degree); launching the “Center for Global Taiwanese Business Studies”, through which to grasp Taiwanese businesses’ global development trend to facilitate teaching and research.

Electronic Learning

To upgrade the existing “Business Information Center” into a Business Science Knowledge Management Center; to launch the most innovative “Digital e-learning Center for Financial Education” and “The Testing Center for Financial Certificate”, through which to train the students to secure professional certification in the financial/banking and accounting domains; to promote featured BOSS (Business Operations Simulation Skills) teaching program to provide students with computerized decision analysis capabilities. The College of Business emphasized a digital service and encouraged startup to cultivate the students with caring for the society and creating an employment advantage.


Integrating the Chung Shan Institute of Science & Technology, Industrial Technology Research Institute and science park operators to expand the promotion of high-tech industry research and teaching to facilitate the students’ future employability; to launched the “Applied Economic Modeling”, in support of the government institutional and industrial needs, to equip students with the overall economic forecasting capabilities; to integrate information science teaching program to increase high-tech industry’s and emerging service industry’s operating efficiency and know-how.

Holistic approach

Refining the teaching content for a holistic moral and disciplinary education; analyzing relevant local and foreign business ethics case studies to strengthen the linkup of business decision and ethical value, coordinated with academic and expert lecturers to enhance the students’ comprehension; promoting the “action learning” and “service learning” to strengthen the students’ care for life, as well as enhancing their spirituality and cultivating them with concern for the society.

To launch new master and doctoral programs

The school plans to file with the Ministry of Education to launch The Department of Information Management doctoral program, The Department of International Trade doctoral program, and The Department of Finance master program, through which to develop and integrate a comprehensive and quality research team.

A continued improvement in e-learning

There are plans to continue to develop equipment and software facilities of the “Digital e-Learning Center for Financial Education and the “The Testing Center for Financial Certification”, and to secure hosting governmental professional licensing examinations at the school.

An active promotion of globalization to map out a global campus learning environment

The school plans to launch the “IPBM: International Program for Business and Management”, for recruiting local and foreign students that combine the college’s teaching resources of five departments to offer a business master degree in an all English teaching environment. There are plans to recruit outstanding international students by coordinating favorable international graduate student grants that the school offers, to excel the business know-how of the local master students and foreign students through global academic learning. The school cultivates the international business talents needed by Taiwanese businesses and multinational corporations, and strengthen the faculty and student body with a global perspective and diverse know-how.

To further develop research by integrating the industry/government/academic research resources

To promote launching a research center , each department continues to refine the quality and quantity of academic search; to promote the faculty and student body to participate in local and foreign academic seminars and to publish their papers in academic periodicals.

To further improve the teaching quality at various schools’ university department, graduate school and continuing education program

To retain instructors with a doctoral degrees to strengthen the dynamics of the faculty, and to form strategic alliances with local and foreign business schools to excel the teaching quality of undergraduate degree. There are plans in the future to further improve the teaching quality of the graduate school and continuing education, through which to achieve higher research and continuing learning.

To promote the AACSB International Business Accreditation

Upon joining the AACSB as a member, the College of Business will actively promote AACSB certification-related work by not only dispatching representatives to participate in international conferences hosted by AACSB to absorb relevant certification bestowing experience, but also by extending invitations to scholars and experts to call on the college to share their AACSB accreditation experience.
